Drone America was a prominent participant at the expanded Drone Zone during this year’s National Championship Air Races in Reno, Nev. Sept. 16-20. Several commercial drone systems from Drone America were on display, including the DAx8, the Phoebus Mk.III and the Ariel. Each system on display showed the public how sizes vary between UAV’s and the type of applications each one is capable of doing.

“We love to show off our different UAV systems to the public,” said Mike Richards, President and CEO of Drone America. “It’s exciting to see how people react towards our commercial drones. It often changes their perceptions of what a drone is, what applications a drone can do to help people and society and how they vary in size and shape.”

According to Warren “Bum” Rapp, director of Nevada Advanced Autonomous Systems Innovation Center (NAASIC) in an interview with the Reno Air Race Association (RARA), one of the main reasons that the Drone Zone was create was to expose the public to the technology and to help educate people on the uses of UAV’s .

The Drone Zone was sponsored by the (NAASIC) and the second annual small drone racing events where sponsored by Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.
