UAS_TechCamp_2015_postA University of Nevada, Reno summer UAS technology camp visited Drone America where the students were able to see and experience real life applications of the concepts and skills they had experienced during their week at camp. The students were able to see up-close the technology and applications that Drone America are currently working on for every-day use.

“Dreams, Inspiration, Enthusiasm and Passion are key ingredients and drivers for future success, said Drone America President and CEO Mike Richards. “For a young student exposure to technology (in this case Unmanned Systems) can be the spark that identifies an opportunity and a direction in life. The University of Nevada, Reno should be commended in their efforts to inspire young men and women in identifying a direction then providing them with the tools necessary to execute upon those dreams.”

The University of Nevada, Reno, College of Engineering in conjunction with Nevada Advanced Autonomous System Innovation Center (NAASIC) hosted a week long residential summer camp during the week of June 22 – 26 focusing on Unmanned Autonomous Systems. The camp was designed to introduce 15 – 17 year old students to the concepts of UAS technology including robotics, mechanical engineering, and computer science. The students worked on projects such as bottle rockets, 3D printing and design, and quadcopter piloting to learn these concepts.
